The RHYTHM

Collective

What is the RHYTHM Collective?

The RHYTHM Collective will be the core group behind the RHYTHM program.
As of February 2026, the RHYTHM collective is in its formation stage.

We are a small, collaborative group of musicians, movers, and cross-disciplinary creatives coming together to explore rhythm, sound, melody, and movement through making music and moving together. This isn’t a performance group or a class. There’s no instruction and no expectation to “do it right.” The focus is on contributing, listening, responding, and seeing what takes shape when people gather and create rhythm together in a well-held intentional space.

Whether you work with percussion, voice, guitar, movement, or other rhythmic forms, the Collective is for people who bring willingness, skill, curiosity, and a genuine interest in co-creating with others. Together, we develop the rhythmic foundation that supports the RHYTHM program and helps shape what it becomes over time.

The Work of the RHYTHM Collective

Beginning in February 2026, we’ll meet regularly over several months in a multi-room, sound-filled venue in Calgary’s Beltline. A steady rhythmic foundation moves through the space, giving shape to weekly sessions where we play, experiment, and gradually build the public RHYTHM experience from the inside out.

As we work together over time, we get to know one another musically and creatively. Patterns, grooves, and shared ways of listening begin to take shape—forming a rhythmic base that carries through the work and into the public RHYTHM gatherings.

The work intentionally softens familiar roles. At different moments, we move between playing and listening, leading and following, structure and improvisation. When challenges arise—as they do in any creative collaboration—we stay with the process and work through them together.

As a group, we:

  • Develop a shared rhythmic repertoire that becomes the foundation of the public RHYTHM experience

  • Create immersive musical environments where sound, movement, and voice all have a place

  • Explore how rhythm supports regulation, energy release, and connection

  • Share styles, knowledge, talents, approaches, and rhythmic ideas to expand both individual and collective range

  • Co-create, host, and facilitate public RHYTHM gatherings—open sessions where what we’ve developed together is shared with the wider community
